The ACC fined Stanford $50,000 for violating the league's event security policy. Fans flooded the field following the Cardinal's 20-13 home win against Florida State on Saturday night.

"The conference's event security policy is designed to protect the safety and well-being of all student-athletes, coaches, officials and fans," the ACC wrote in a statement. This is Stanford's first offense.

The loss dropped Florida State to 0-4 in the ACC and 3-4 overall. It was the Seminoles' ninth straight conference loss under Mike Norvell. The end of the contest was controversial for a few reasons. Stanford defenders tackled Gavin Sawchuk just short of the goal line on an untimed down following a pass interference call.

The Seminoles nearly pulled off a comeback after Tommy Castellanos was knocked out of the game in the final minutes on a targeting foul against Mitch Leigber.

“I believe in the guys that we have. I do,” Norvell said. “I think that they’ve shown fight throughout. We didn’t fight very smart tonight. But they did fight to the end. ... We were there on the last play and had a chance and they said we were short.”

After winning only three games in each of the last four seasons, the Cardinal matched that total in their first year under interim coach Frank Reich.
