ANN ARBOR, Mich. (WLNS) – The Michigan men’s basketball team stayed unbeaten and continued its dominant form with an 89-61 win over Villanova on Tuesday. It was the sixth straight game the Wolverines have won by 25 or more points.

Michigan really put the game to bed by halftime. The Wolverines were up 53-23 at the break, marking the fourth straight game they’ve led by 24 or more points at half.

Elliot Cadeau led the way in the first half. Coming into play, Cadeau had 22 assists in his last two games, but on Tuesday he was looking for his own shot. He poured in 15 points on 6-for-9 shooting in the first half and finished the night with 18 points, one shy of his career high.

“I just think it’s confidence from the people around me,” Cadeau said of his improved shooting this season. “It’s just feeding into me. Coaches want me to shoot every time I’m open and my players want me to shoot every time I’m open and that just gives me confidence.”

Michigan also scored 30 points in the paint in the first half to Villanova’s two.

“How did it come together? Because you have a group of guys that are committing to each other,” said head coach Dusty May. “They’re sacrificing for each other. They’re putting their teammates on the same plane or above themselves and that’s the only way it works.”

Michigan will look to continue this dominant stretch on Saturday at Maryland. It’ll be the Wolverines second true road game of the season.

The other true road game they’ve played, a 67-63 win over TCU, was one of only two games Michigan hasn’t won by at least 25 points.
