UFC bantamweight contenders headline at APEX
UFC Vegas 113 is expected to be headlined by a key bantamweight contest.
MMA Fighting’s Mike Heck and Guilherme Cruz confirmed with sources with knowledge of the matchup that a bout between top-ranked contenders Mario Bautista (16-3) and Vinicius Oliveira (23-3) is being targeted as the main event for the upcoming show, which takes place at UFC APEX in Las Vegas on Feb. 7. The news was first reported by Ag. Fight.
Currently, Bautista stands at No. 6 in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings, with Oliveira at No. 15.
Bautista has been on a tear the past few years, only seeing an eight-fight win streak stopped this past October at UFC 321 where he lost a unanimous decision to Umar Nurmagomedov. Prior to that, Bautista earned decision wins over former UFC champion Jose Aldo and former Bellator champion Patchy Mix to vault himself to the cusp of the top 10 of the 135-pound rankings.
He is now tasked with stopping the streaking “Lok Dog,” who has won all four of his UFC fights since being signed off of Dana White’s Contender Series in 2023. Oliveira debuted with a Performance of the Night-winning knockout of Bernardo Sopai and followed that up with wins over Ricky Simon, Said Nurmagomedov, and Kyler Phillips.
UFC Vegas 113 marks the promotion’s first card at the APEX for 2026.
