Kylian Mbappe pushed himself to be available for Real Madrid against Manchester City on Wednesday night.
The French superstar, dealing with a fractured finger as well as discomfort in his knee, was a major doubt, but was ultimately named in the squad for the all-important match.
However, he did not play any part even as Real Madrid ended up tasting a 1-2 defeat at the Santiago Bernabeu, with Xabi Alonso opting not to risk him.
Fresh tests again tomorrow
Now, according to journalist Javi Herraez on Carrusel, Mbappe will undergo new tests tomorrow to assess his condition ahead of the weekend clash.
Real Madrid take on Deportivo Alaves in La Liga on Sunday night – a game where failure to win could mean the end of the road for manager Xabi Alonso.
Mbappe, who will be eager to play and help the team, will be assessed by the club’s medical staff tomorrow and determine whether he will be able to play or not.

The 26-year-old megastar has been the main source of goals for Real Madrid this season, with more than 50% of the team’s goals coming from him.
So far this term, the France captain has plundered 25 goals and four assists from 21 matches across all competitions, with his brilliance carrying the team forward.
So, it will be crucial for Alonso & co. to recover Mbappe and have him fit and firing at the earliest possible to steady the boat.
At the same time, taking risks with the team’s main goalscorer with still half a season left to be played could end up being an imprudent move.
So, it will be interesting to see how things go as far as Mbappe and his availability to face Alaves on Sunday is concerned.
