BLOOMINGTON — Indiana football quarterback Fernando Mendoza isn't quite the lock to win the Heisman as his team was to nab the top overall seed in the College Football Playoff, but he isn't far off.
Mendoza heads into this weekend's as the heavy betting favorite to bring home IU's first Heisman. He will be joined on stage this weekend in New York alongside Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin, Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia and Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love.

Mendoza is the clear favorite to win the award as of Friday morning, per the latest odds from BetMGM. While the race has tightened since the immediate aftermath of the Big Ten title game, Mendoza is the only finalist with minus odds.

When is the Heisman Trophy ceremony?
This year's Heisman Trophy winner will be announced Saturday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. ET on ABC. Mendoza will attend the ceremony in New York at the Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Appel Room.
