Bayern München are reportedly close to buying a new stadium for their women's team.
The Bild paper said the council of the municipality of Unterhaching near Munich has given the green light to sell its 15,000-seat Sportpark Unterhaching stadium to Bayern for €7.25 million ($8.5 million).
The deal is to be finalised at a notary next week, after which the clubs will comment. Bayern will be the owners from January 1 onwards, Bild said.
Bayern's women, who like the men are reigning Bundesliga champions, play most of their matches at the club's campus, which with a capacity of 2,500 is too small these days.
They also play some matches in the 75.000 arena where the men play and which is also owned by the club. This venue is however too big for most matches.
The Unterhaching venue is used by third division club Unterhaching but a favourable solution for all sides is expected to be found because Bayern and Unterhaching have a strategic partnership in the junior sector.
