Cold weather games? Sure, why not?

Bundle up and enjoy the elements

Snow game

The Las Vegas Raiders are preparing to play their one cold-weather game this season, Sunday at the Philadelphia Eagles.

It should be below 30 degrees, so we thought we’d use this week’s Tuesday Community Question topic to ask if fans enjoy attending cold-weather games.

Here are some of your responses:

If you don’t drink, outdoor games in cold weather are just not fun. All NFL should be played in domes.

I grew up in Toronto so most games we went to were Bills games. Saw the Raiders at Ralph Wilson in the snow a few times. Never really noticed the cold so much but occasionally that wind could get pretty sharp. Fortunately, Buffalo fans are awesome, even to the enemy. Between the food and the readily available “anti-freeze” we were usually “warm” enough by game time that the temperature didn’t matter. Always a good time at those games. Truly good humans there in Buffalo. Admittedly, the trip home was almost always an adventure in itself.

Queue responses of “that’s a great story, grandpa” 😜

For me, it’s all about the wind. if it’s not windy the cold can be tolerable, with wind it is brutal to just sit there. our seats in oakland were semi protected on the west side under the second deck section 117 so those were not too bad, and it’s california so….
i had a pic from our seats but too hard to upload to this site…..40 yd line row 35

No I preferan nice fall day , with a bit of an Autumn wind, in a venue with a sea of clothing of black raider nation fans providing a huge home field advantage…….oh well….that was then

Football is great in the elements. That’s how it was meant to be played. I played and coached many games in the bitter cold. One time we played in North Dakota …. Went to the Bus at half time to get warm. It was a driving Ice Storm. We went to go out for the 2nd half and the door was frozen shut . It took about 20 minutes to get the door open and then we played the rest of the game . 10 below zero.
I hate setting in the cold … I’d rather be moving.

As long as you’re dressed right (i.e., thermal boots and gloves, long johns, multiple layers on the torso, and a nice cap) cold weather games are fun as hell. A little nip of bourbon right before the game doesn’t hurt either.

Heck no, at the Coliseum during rain I would sneak into a suite.
