The Peacock Report
Well, it looks like Saint Peter’s might be better than the 11th best team in the MAAC but this is likely still going to end up as another 300ish cupcake.
Brent Bland is having a breakout season averaging 15.8 points per game. That’s 10 points above his career average. Bland also shots just a tick under 40 percent from 3-point range so that might be something to watch out for today.
The Peacocks are a top 5 free-throw shooting team in the country at 81.1 percent.
WHAT’S AT STAKE
Not much today, really. I think Dan Hurley had a nice quote about games like this that made its way onto social media yesterday.
It looks like Georgetown is set to complete the non-conference portion of the schedule at 8-3 assuming the Hoyas can take care of business on campus against Saint Peter’s and then Coppin State on Dec. 22 (also at McDonough).
Metrics-wise it would be nice for two blowouts but we really need to look ahead and turn our attention to league play. I said we, not the players of course.
If, and it’s a big if, the Hoyas can find a way to start 2-0 with a win at Marquette and then at home against Xavier, that New Year’s Eve game with St. John’s could be a massive game to end 2025.
