An artic blast is bringing dangerous sub-zero wind chills to the Chicago area, most locations woke up to a wind chill between -20 to -25 on Sunday.
Players said they were mentally gearing up and hyping themselves up for this endurance event of the elements.
"Weather and elements don't bother me," Bears quarterback Caleb Williams said. "So just being able to get warm, get my body warm and get out there and deliver good balls to my guys and let them make plays."
Ahead of this weekend's arctic weather, the team wants fans to be prepared heading into Soldier Field, by:
-Knowing where to find stadium warming centers,
-Staying hydrated to fight off-cold weather dehydration,
-Fans can wear battery-powered heated clothing, but it could be subject to more security screening.
-Fans cannot bring in cardboard to sit or stand on.
Dr. Nicholas Cozzi, EMS Medical Director at Rush University Medical Center, joined ABC7 Chicago to talk about the dangerous cold this weekend.
And with many fans planning to tailgate hours before the game, the Bears want to remind fans open flames are prohibited in all lots which means no:
-Firepits in any parking lot
-No tents or canopies
-And no grills or heaters using liquefied fuels inside parking garages
Bears cornerback Kyler Gordon placed on IR with groin injury
The Chicago Bears placed cornerback Kyler Gordon on injured reserve on Saturday because of a groin injury.
Gordon will miss the remaining four regular-season games because of an injury he sustained in warm-ups prior to Chicago's loss at Green Bay last week, his latest setback in an injury-riddled season. Signed to a three-year, $40 million extension in April, he has played in just three games.
Gordon missed the first four games because of a hamstring injury and five more because of a groin issue before returning for Chicago's win at Philadelphia in Week 13. A second-round draft pick by the Bears in 2022, he has five career interceptions.
Chicago (9-4) elevated running back Brittain Brown and linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin from the practice squad for Sunday's game against Cleveland (3-10).
The Bears had won five straight and nine of 10 before last week. They fell behind Green Bay for the NFC North lead and tumbled from first to seventh in the conference.
