Guernsey FC Women suffered the heaviest league defeat in their history as they lost 8-1 at Farnham Town.

The Green Lionesses - in their first season in English league football - were no match for the Southern Region Women's Division One South's top side.

The runaway leaders needed just five minutes to go in front through Iesha Swaby before Rachael Manley doubled the lead midway through the first half as Guernsey goalkeeper Alana Hockey was forced off with an injury.

Having gone in 2-0 down at the break the island side were five behind within five minutes of the restart as Emily Foss scored twice and Francesca Thornton also found the back of the net.

Foss took her tally to four goals as she struck twice more before the hour mark to make it 7-0 before Codie Le Flem pulled a goal back for the islanders.

But Echo Barrett rounded off the win with an excellent strike six minutes from full-time.

The win was Farnham's seventh from seven matches to leave them two points clear at the top of the table, with two games in hand, while Guernsey slip to eighth place in the 11-team league with 13 points from 10 played.
