Why Drew Dalman deserves to go to the Pro Bowl

In this miniseries, we’ll look at several Chicago Bears who are making a solid case for the Pro Bowl.

The Player: Drew Dalman was a 4th-round pick out of Stanford by the Falcons. After four years in Atlanta, he signed a three-year deal as a free agent with Chicago. Some reports note that he took less money to play with Caleb Williams and to work with Ben Johnson.

The Case For Him: Dalman was a solid player for Atlanta, but he seems to have found the next level in the Windy City. He has a career-low error rate per Sports Info Solutions, and Pro Football Focus has him as the 4th-highest-graded center in the league. Along with the other Chicago interior offensive linemen, he’s in the top ten of all IOL players for pass block win rate per ESPN.

The Case Against Him: Part of the low sack rate allowed by the offensive line is arguably due to the elusiveness of the quarterback and not the integrity of the line itself.

Rebuttal: His play is a big part of why Chicago is in the top five of most major rushing metrics like rushing yards per game and rush yards per attempt. It’s not his fault that the quarterback he works with is also an escape artist.
