Steelers expect to have star defender back vs. Lions

The Pittsburgh Steelers are likely getting back one of their star defenders.

The Pittsburgh Steelers seemed to be at an obvious disadvantage against the Miami Dolphins without defensive tackle Derrick Harmon in the lineup against the ground attack led by running back De’Von Achane. However, the Steelers were more than ready for whatever the Dolphins threw at them, limiting Achane to just 60 yards on the ground.

Pittsburgh will face arguably its toughest matchup of the season, though, in Week 16 when it travels to Detroit to take on the Lions. Jahmyr Gibbs is in the midst of a tremendous season, totaling just under 1,600 yards from scrimmage and 16 total touchdowns. And while he and the rest of the Lions offense present a clear challenge, the Steelers will likely have Harmon back in the lineup for Week 16, per Mike Tomlin in his weekly press conference.

Harmon has been tremendous in his rookie campaign, registering 17 run stuffs, per Next Gen Stats, and acting as a large clog in the middle of the defensive line to prevent big runs. While Gibbs is someone you can only hope to contain rather than completely shut down, the Steelers having Harmon in the middle of the defense will make that a much easier task.
