One player is now confirmed to be out of our upcoming fixture against Newcastle United this coming Saturday afternoon.
Maresca has already been talking about a lack of time between fixtures ahead of this game, suggesting that fatigue is always going to be an issue in these situations.

This comes after Chelsea had to play last night in The Carabao Cup – yet another midweek game ahead of a big Premier League fixture at the weekend.
Maresca would have been annoyed that he had to use some of his first team players off the bench to win the game last night, with his second string team clearly being far from good enough.
It took two late goals from subs Pedro Neto and Alejandro Garnacho to give Chelsea the win late on, after Cardiff pulled it back to 1-1 and threatened to pull off a shock. They actually didn’t deserve to be the losing side last night and Chelsea got very lucky in the end.
There was one big name missing last night though, a player we all expected to see starting the game after his lack of minutes lately – Estevao Willian.

According to Maresca, who spoke on it after the game in words picked up on X, Estevao is injured and he will miss the Newcastle game at the weekend as well.
Maresca said:
“He had a small problem, a muscle problem. He won’t be available for Newcastle, and we’ll see for the next one.”
Hopefully it wont be any worse
Let’s hope Estevao has no set backs here and the injury does not end up being any worse than what Maresca is hoping.
We need all the quality we can get right now at a crucial period.
