PSG bring in former Galatasaray Sporting Director to oversee newly acquired Eupen

PSG have already started making their mark on newly acquired Eupen. The Belgian second tier side announced that Pasquale Sensibile will be the new Sporting Director at the club. Sensibilie moves across from PSG, where he had been playing a major role in global talent identification and integration within the Ligue 1 club. This may well be an indication of how PSG are looking to run Eupen, with a similar approach to fellow second tier side Lommel. Under the umbrella of the City Group, Lommel have been used as a landing spot for a number of young players from around the globe. However, this has not yet translated into on field success.

Sensibile does have plenty of experience of being a Sporting Director .In the past, he had held the job with one of the biggest clubs in European football, Galatasaray. Now, he is in charge of ensuring that Eupen and PSG are aligned, something that Luis Campos mentioned in the press release regarding the appointment of Sensibile. Many would expect that January will be a busy time for Eupen, with perhaps a few young players from the PSG academy making their way across the border to Eupen.

Eupen currently sit seventh in the second tier, 13 points adrift of the automatic relegation zones. Therefore, PSG are unlikely to want to push for promotion this season. However, they could finish in the top six and qualify for the play-offs. Winning these would set up a clash with whoever finishes bottom of the Pro League. If PSG do invest in Eupen this January, they could potentially put together a squad capable of beating a Pro League side over two legs. However, this has been attempted in the past, and has not always been successful.
