Newcastle United forward Yoane Wissa says it is "a privilege" to follow in the footsteps of the club's all-time leading goalscorer Alan Shearer by wearing the number nine shirt, after scoring his first goal for the Magpies against Fulham.
"It means a lot to me," Wissa told BBC Radio Newcastle after the match. "I received a text message from him [Alan Shearer] before the match, he wished me the best of luck because he knew I was going to start.
"It is something special. I know the number nine shirt is the best one here, so I just need to enjoy that.
"There is pressure that comes with it, but it is a privilege."
When asked about scoring his first goal for the club after a spell on the sidelines with a knee injury, Wissa replied: "It is something that I've been dreaming about for the last few weeks and months.
"Now that I've achieved it, I need to score more goals. St James' Park is a crazy place, the best place in the Premier League. I was buzzing to get my goal here and hear the fans."
"I'm building. I can't say I'm 100% fit because otherwise I would be playing 90 minutes. I need to look after myself because I've just come back from a long injury.
"I'm happy for the fans that someone else can help the team out now. I'm happy for myself and my family because the situation has been something quite crazy."
