The Hobby Awards have officially concluded, and the winners are now set. If you missed the live broadcast, the full stream is available to watch online.
During filming, we wanted to capture something more immediate – the raw, unfiltered reactions from winners as they received the news in real time. We reached out to six individual award recipients and shared the results on camera, preserving those moments as they happened.
Below are reactions from Rob Veres, Tyson Beck, Mama Breaks, Geoff Wilson, King of the Kards, and Ken Goldin, presented in the order they appeared during the show.
Rob Veres – Best Hobby Shop
Burbank Sportscards
Rob Veres heard the news and immediately double-checked it.
“Did I really?” he asked.
When it sank in, he didn’t overplay it – he grounded it. “Means a lot, man. Means a lot. I love it,” Veres said, before explaining why it hit: “It’s nice to think that you have it, but then to have others come back… with all the great shops in the country, this one means a lot.”
Tyson Beck – Best Custom Card Art Artist
Tyson Beck’s first response was pure surprise.
“Oh, wow,” he said. “Yeah, no – I appreciate that. Thank you very much.”
But his bigger point wasn’t about himself. “It’s really cool to have an awards kind of platform like this,” Beck said, “and also shining some well-deserved credit to artists. They don’t always get the spotlight they deserve in the hobby.”
He added: “It was really cool to have that as one of the awards – and that people were able to vote on. Big respect… for including us in the award show.”
Stephanie (Mama Breaks) – Best Livestream Seller
Stephanie didn’t hesitate.
“That’s amazing. Thank you. That’s awesome,” she said.
Then she went straight to what she was most excited about – the trophy itself. “I can’t wait… you know, I love ghosts,” she said.
And like a lot of winners, she framed it as shared. “Super grateful. Thank you,” she said. “Excited to tell the team – we’ve got a winner.”
Geoff Wilson – Best Media Platform
Sports Card Investor
Geoff Wilson’s first thought was who would care most about the news.
“Oh, that’s awesome… thank you, Evan,” he said. “My team’s going to be thrilled.”
When he expanded, he made it explicit: “That’s what it’s really all about. I’m fortunate to work with a lot of the best people in the business who make me look good.”
He paused, then underlined it again: “We’ve got a great team here… and this is certainly something they’re going to be thrilled about. I can’t wait to tell them.”
Kyle (King of the Kards) – Influencer of the Year
Kyle’s reaction wasn’t a victory lap – it was humility and perspective.
“Yeah, grateful for that,” he said. “I know we work really hard to try to do our best for the community.”
What surprised him most was scale: “I was shocked to see how much interest there was… and yeah, so just pretty humbling stuff.”
Then he widened the lens: “It’s the first opportunity any of this really gets a chance to be recognized,” Kyle said, before adding, “win or lose, it got a lot of eyes on a lot of people doing really cool stuff.”
Ken Goldin – Executive of the Year
Ken Goldin’s comparison came instantly.
“Amazing. Thank you,” he said. “I mean, this is like getting a call from the Baseball Hall of Fame, right?”
After acknowledging nominees and voters – “I appreciate everyone who voted for me” – he shifted into what’s been a banner year for his business.
“We celebrate,” Goldin said. “The highest profile item in the history of our company was sold in the past 12 months.”
And with Season 3 of King of Collectibles coming, he teased what collectors should watch for: “If you’ve watched one and two, this is going to be your favorite season. This is really for the collector,” he said, adding, “there’s a couple of huge, hidden finds that nobody knows about… that we have not sold yet until the show comes out.”
