Gabriel Gudmundsson: We need to be on it

After his player of the match display against Brentford last time out, defender Gabriel Gudmundsson is hoping the Whites can continue their momentum this weekend.

Having taken four points from home clashes with Chelsea and Liverpool prior to the draw in the capital, Daniel Farke’s side now come up against a very in-form side in the Eagles.

“Tough team,” the Swedish international began. “Very direct, good striker up front with a lot of crosses and finishing.

“It is going to be a tough game. We also know that it is a great away team, getting a lot of points away from home.

“We need to be on it. I think Palace is a different game than we had before against other top teams. So, you know, have adapt some things during the week and hopefully can get it out on the pitch.”

With the season approaching the half-way mark, the left-back then reflected on the opening months of the campaign and how he has settled to life in England’s top-flight.

“I think for me and for a lot of Swedish people, we are growing up watching the Premier League,” Gudmundsson added.

“It is normal but, again, I think there are a lot of good players and good leagues, not just the Premier League because I have been part of the French League, which I think is a really good league.

“I think it made me the player I am today, to come here directly to compete at this level in the Premier League. I think it says something about the other leagues as well.

“But again, I think Premier League, probably I would say more quality players on the ball. Obviously, we have a lot of quality here in England and the best teams, obviously, because they are competing in the European competition.

“It is a dream to come here to play in the Premier League, obviously, because I grew up watching the Premier League. My father was here playing in Blackburn.

“So it has always been a goal for me to come here and, to be part of Leeds United, to do that – it is amazing. I am very happy to be here.”
