Mansoor Delane’s one year in Baton Rouge is going to be his only year in Baton Rouge as the star transfer cornerback announced his intention to enter the 2026 NFL Draft.

Delane is a projected first round pick and looks to be the first cornerback off the board when the draft starts Thursday April 23.

It was clear from Week One that LSU hit on Delane when he intercepted a pass and broke up three others in LSU’s road win over Clemson. From there he would go on to lead the SEC in both passes defensed (13) and passes broken up (11) all while playing with an abdominal injury. Despite the injury, Delane did not give up a single touchdown and quarterbacks completed just 37 percent of passes when throwing in his direction; in 358 snaps, Delane allowed just 13 receptions for 147 yards and six first downs.

Delane’s star exploded in 2025. Coming into LSU the highest individual accolade he achieved with Virginia Tech was Third-Team All-ACC; but this year he was named a finalist for the Thorpe Award—given annually to the nation’s best defensive back—and was named a First-Team All-American across all five major outlets: the AP, Walter Camp, Sporting News, American Football Coaches Association and the FWAA.

Delane is just the 14th Tiger to ever earn unanimous All-American honors, with Joe Burrow being the last to achieve the feat. Delane is the fourth Tiger defensive back to be named a unanimous All-American joining Patrick Peterson (2010), Morris Claiborne (2011) and Grant Delpit (2018).
