NC State put together its second-best shooting performance of the season yesterday, while Georgia Tech, well … uh, Georgia Tech was a functional basketball team for 20 minutes! That’s something. The problem for the Jackets was the other half of the game—NC State won the second and third quarters by a combined score of 51-14.

NC State shot 13-16 from the field in the second quarter as it began putting the Jackets in the rearview mirror, starting with a three from Zam Jones, who continues to improve from a chilly start to the season. She’s up to 34.3% from three on the season after going 3-5 against the Jackets.

Six Wolfpack players hit double figures, led by Jones’ 17 and Khamil Pierre’s 13. NC State was up by 43 points as the fourth quarter got underway.

State shot over 64% inside the arc in this one, and it was good to see both Zam and Zoe have success there. We need more of that—and for Zam to continue shooting it at an above-average clip from three. No question the offense has looked a lot better over the last half dozen games, and hopefully we’ll be able to look back at the rough start to this season as uncharacteristically chilly.

There’s one more game for State this calendar year: a tricky road game Sunday at Davidson, which is projected to win 14 games in the A-10. (Will Wade approves of this scheduling.)
