Bayern have plans upon plans…
Finding a star striker who can carry the burdens a No. 9 at Bayern Munich needs is difficult. But, over recent years, the Bavarians have actually struggled more to find a backup for their star strikers. For years, Robert Lewandowski toiled without backup, with Sandro Wagner and Eric Choupo-Moting only fleetingly lasting as his backup. Harry Kane has arrived at Bayern with a similar problem, having spent the 2024/25 season with no recognized backup. This season, Bayern have found that back up striker in a 12-month loan for Nicolas Jackson.
But the loanee from Chelsea FC is not lighting it up, barely playing and being usurped in the pecking order by 17-year-old Lennart Karl. Net summer, the Bavarians will need to decide whether to trigger Jackson’s option to buy- reportedly set at around €65 million — perhaps try to negotiate it down or look elsewhere.
If the Bavarians were to look elsewhere, it seems they already have their eyes on an alternative. BILD, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, relays the story:
FC Midtjylland striker Franculino Djú is Bayern’s alternative to Nicolas Jackson, should the club decide against signing the Senegalese player permanently from Chelsea. Bayern had made an attempt to sign Djú on loan last summer, but would be prepared to buy him next year in order to be Harry Kane’s backup and develop behind him.
There have been plenty of recent reports linking the Guinean striker to Bayern as the 21-year-old enjoys a breakthrough season in Denmark, racking up nearly a goal per game. Of course, just how long Djú will stay at Midtjylland and be available for Bayern or how much the Danish club will ask for their star striker following this season remains to be seen.
