Newcastle United expect Will Osula to return to action in early January, according to a report from the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope.

Hope reported that Osula will have the protective boot removed from his injured ankle these days, a key step in his recovery. If there are no setbacks, the striker is projected to be available by the second week of January, bringing an end to another spell on the sidelines that will have lasted more than two months.

Osula has not featured since November 2, despite making a promising impression during the early part of the season. His absence has limited Eddie Howe’s attacking options during a congested period, but the expectation is that the 21-year-old will soon be back in contention as Newcastle move deeper into the winter schedule.

Regarding Osula’s future, Hope noted that Osula remains on the radar of several clubs in England and abroad, but revealed that the suggestions from Germany earlier this month that a deal had already been agreed with Eintracht Frankfurt are false and no fresh talks have taken place.
