The defensive tackle hurt his foot in the first half against Baltimore.
The New England Patriots entered Week 16 with some injury questions, and things did not get any easier for them during their game against the Baltimore Ravens. Among the players to go down was starting defensive tackle Khyiris Tonga.
The 29-year-old was initially announced as questionable to return with a foot injury in the late second quarter. He never returned and at the onset of the fourth period was officially ruled out by the team.
Tonga joined the Patriots earlier this offseason on a one-year, $2.1 million free agency deal. Since then, the veteran has played a crucial role for the team as an early-down nose tackle and member of the top three rotation alongside Christian Barmore and Milton Williams. After the latter hurt his ankle in Week 11 and was placed on injured reserve, Tonga saw an uptick in opportunities.
In total, he has appeared in 13 games with seven starts heading into Sunday’s contest. He had 21 tackles to his name.
