Report – Dutch Veteran Unlikely To Leave Inter Milan In January Despite Limited First-Team Opportunities

Inter Milan center-back Stefan de Vrij could reportedly stay at San Siro beyond January despite his limited playing time.

According to FCInterNews, the 33-year-old is unlikely to sever ties with the Nerazzurri in the upcoming transfer window.

Stefan de Vrij has lost his first-team status this season.

Indeed, the former Lazio defender has only made eight appearances in all competitions, including three starts in Serie A.

Therefore, the Dutchman is considering leaving the club this winter to increase his chances of playing at the FIFA World Cup.

De Vrij’s contract at Giuseppe Meazza runs out at the end of the season, with Inter unwilling to offer him a new deal.

However, the Dutch ace is desperate to play for the Netherlands at next summer’s World Cup.

As such, he was looking to leave Inter this winter, hoping to convince Ronald Koeman to call him up for the tournament.
