London City Lionesses are set to appoint Spanish coach Eder Maestre as manager following the sacking of Jocelyn Precheur.

Maestre was recently managing CD Tenerife Femenino in Spain's top-tier but left the club in December.

London City, who were promoted to the Women's Super League for the first time this season, sacked Frenchman Precheur on Sunday.

Precheur, 43, joined London City in 2024 from Paris St-Germain during a period of major investment by ambitious multi-club owner Michele Kang.

The decision came as a shock with London City sat in sixth place with five wins from their first 11 matches in the WSL.

However, it is understood the club did not see Precheur as the coach to lead them through the next stage of their development.

It is believed that Maestre is viewed as a future world-class coach with a strong Spanish style they want to implement at London City.

The 39-year-old previously managed Real Sociedad, also in Spain.
