Truro City defender Ben Adelsbury has retired from football at the age of 35.
Adelsbury was in his third spell at the club and played a crucial role in helping the Tinners climb from the Southern Premier League to the National League in the space of two years.
The centre-back first joined Truro 13 years ago before a spell at Bath City.
He returned to the club in 2016 before leaving for a three-year stint at Taunton Town but once again rejoined the Tinners in the summer of 2022.
"I have had some special times with some special people," Adelsbury told the club website.
"I arrived as a player and leave as a fan and it is amazing to see where the club was two or three years ago to where it finds itself now.
"I'd like to thank the fans for all their support during my times at the football club and within the playing group are some special characters. That's what makes the football club a special place to be."
Adelsbury has played just once this season, as a substitute in the National League Cup, and says the time was right for him to hang up his boots.
"When the club transitioned to hybrid and part-time to full-time, at the start of this season, I was never going to be able to commit," he added.
"I have a young family and a career away from football so I'm very comfortable with the decision I've come to. It feels like the right time personally to spend a little more time with my family and to be a fan watching the boys."
