Comparisons to the 2010 Super Bowl team are tantalizing but still premature.
Did you know Jordan Love is the same age as Aaron Rodgers, Brett Favre, and Bart Starr when they won their first championships?
If you didn’t, you probably haven’t watched a Packers game this year, because that and other parallels to 2010 (and 1996 and 1961) have been flogged to no end. And maybe they’re true and real, but they don’t count for much until the Packers actually win something.
But I’d like there to be something to those comparisons. I’d like it to be true that the Packers are very similar to their 2010 championship team, or any of the other title-winning teams of ages gone by. It’s just there’s a long way to go to pay them off. Realistically, the Packers need to play the best football they’ve played all season and they need to do it for almost two months straight to really pay off those comparisons.
Is that impossible? No, but with Jordan Love ailing and Micah Parsons on the shelf and a whole host of other issues on this team, it’s a huge ask.
It’d be something to see, that’s for sure, but maybe let’s pump the brakes on championship comparisons until the Packers are actually playing for a title.

I’m glad that people are pointing out these parallels, but let’s hold off on too many comparisons until the Lombardi Trophy is in hand.
