Kelce may retire from the NFL at the end of this season after a 13-year career

It might be a home end game for Travis Kelce.
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid addressed the ongoing speculation that the star tight end will retire at the end of this season after a 13-year career in the NFL, while speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Dec. 23.
With the Chiefs out of the playoffs and just two games remaining on their schedule, their Christmas Day game against the Denver Broncos at Arrowhead Stadium will be their final opportunity to play at home this season. At his media availability, a reporter asked Reid what it would mean to him and the organization if it turned out to be Travis' last home game.
"I don't know if it is or not, I haven't talked to him, but I think his numbers and personality and the person speaks for themselves," he of Travis, 36. "A phenomenal person... has been great for the community."

Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy also discussed the possibility of Kelce saying goodbye to Arrowhead Stadium on Thursday night.
"What Travis has done to this organization, his teammates, this city... I hope to hell it's not true... He's out here every day at practice... I think that should go to show why he's playing this game and why he's so special," he said.

Chris Jones, star defensive tackle on the Chiefs and a longtime friend of Kelce, shared his bittersweet thoughts on the tight end's potential last game.

"Ah, man it's sad," Jones said during a press conference. "To be able to be here with my brother and be able to share the field with him. I hope it isn’t his last ride, but if it is, I tip my hat off to him. Hell of a career."
Kelce hasn't yet addressed the retirement speculation himself, despite being questioned about it several times in press conferences. Most recently, he declined to answer a reporter who asked for an update when he spoke with media on Dec. 19.

The three-time Super Bowl winner, who is also planning his wedding with fiancée Taylor Swift, said that he's in "a unique time in my life" right now knowing that they won't make the playoffs in the final year of his contract.
"Unfortunately, I’ve got three games left," he shared, adding, "And I know when the season ends this year."
Kelce and the Chiefs missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade after the team lost 16-13 to the Los Angeles Chargers on Dec. 14, mathematically eliminating them from contention.

He underwent successful surgery the next day and is currently rehabbing to recovery.
After the game on Christmas Day, the Chiefs play the Las Vegas Raiders in Sin City on Jan. 4. If he decides to retire, it would be Kelce's last game of his career.
