Bayern Munich honorary president, Uli Hoeneß, outlines club’s sporting goals for 2026

The goal remains the same at FC Bayern.

Clubs often spend their entire existence without the taste of silverware. Other clubs get a regular shot at becoming champions. However, no team in the world has quite the same expectation to win the league, domestic cup and UEFA Champions League as Bayern Munich.

Only eight teams in existence have managed to secure the elusive treble, including Bayern, who share the record with Catalunyian outfit, FC Barcelona, winning the treble twice. Die Rekordmeister completed the feat in the 2012/13 season under Jupp Heynckes as well as 2019/20 with Hansi Flick. And after an electric start to the season, it will come as no surprise to hear that the German side will be trying to make lightning strike thrice.

Honorary president, supervisory board member and club legend, Uli Hoeneß, hopes his side will make a strong charge for all three competitions once again.

“Our team naturally wants to become German champions, and go far internationally again,” began Hoeneß when questioned about Bayern’s sporting goals for the new year in interview with German newspaper, Tz (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “I’m also sure the players will do everything to go to Berlin again [for the DFB-Pokal final]. You saw after the game against Union Berlin how happy they were, like little kids, because we hadn’t been to Berlin for ages. The national team will be playing in a World Cup, and I hope they go as far as possible. I’m totally satisfied with how things have gone this year, both personally and at FC Bayern.”

So far, Bayern have made a strong case for the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and Champions League title. The Germans have been the most formidable team in Europe this season, despite losing out to the likes of Arsenal, will be looking to mount a strong attack in all three competitions in 2026. Considering Alphonso Davie’s recent return from injury, including Musiala’s imminent return to the first team; ‘Die Roten’ will be in prime position to become the first team ever to win the treble three times.

Do you think Bayern could win the treble this season?
