Agent Of Tottenham Hotspur Star Reveals He Was ‘Flattered By Serie A Links’ After Inter Milan Rumours In The Summer

Spurs star Xavi Simons was “flattered” by Serie A interest involving Inter Milan, but his priority in the summer remained a move to the Premier League, according to his agent Ali Barat.

Speaking with quotes via FCInterNews, Barat addressed the transfer rumours that linked Simons with Inter Milan during the last window.

Indeed, clarifying the player’s thinking at the time.

“Links with Inter? Xavi once again wanted the Premier League,” Barat explained.

“So when Tottenham contacted us and Chelsea contacted me, his intention was to go to the Premier League.”

Simons Agent Acknowledges Inter Interest Before Spurs Move

Despite that clear preference, Barat acknowledged that interest from Italy still made an impression on the Dutch international.

“Of course, he was flattered by the attention from Serie A clubs,” the agent added.

Therefore confirming that the links were taken seriously even if they did not alter Simons’ immediate plans.

The Dutchman ultimately completed his move to Tottenham Hotspur, choosing England as the next step in his development, while Chelsea were also involved in discussions earlier in the process.

However, Barat did not close the door on a future move to Italy. “We hope to be able to bring Xavi to Italy in the future,” he said, leaving the possibility of a Serie A chapter open further down the line.

For Inter, the comments confirm that while the summer links were genuine, timing, rather than lack of interest, proved decisive.
