Sub Ikpeazu equalises but Uganda held by Tanzania

St Johnstone's Uche Ikpeazu came off the bench to equalise for Uganda as they drew 1-1 with Tanzania at the Africa Cup of Nations. The 30-year-old striker, who has not scored for the Perth side since August, came on after 77 minutes in Rabat and three minutes later met Allan Okello's cross with a diving header to cancel out Simon Msuva's penalty. After opening with a 3-0 defeat by Tunisia, Ikpeazu's side sit bottom of Group C and realistically must upset group leaders Nigeria in Fes on Tuesday if they are to have a chance of qualifying for the last 16.

However, Okello missed a chance to secure victory from the penalty spot as torrential rain engulfed the Al Medina Stadium.

After opening with a 3-0 defeat by Tunisia, Ikpeazu's side sit bottom of Group C and realistically must upset group leaders Nigeria in Fes on Tuesday if they are to have a chance of qualifying for the last 16.

Nigeria secured their place with a 3-2 win over Tunisia, for whom Celtic winger Sebastian Tounekti was a second-half substitute, helping his side threaten a comeback from 3-0 down.
