Here’s the full slate for the final week
The final game of Week 17 in the National Football League is in the books, as the San Francisco 49ers held off the Chicago Bears in a thriller, 42-38. That means that the league has finally set the schedule for Week 18, so let’s set everything for you.
First and foremost, our Minnesota Vikings will host the Green Bay Packers as part of the early afternoon window on Sunday afternoon. Kickoff will be slated for noon Central time on CBS. That’s probably what a lot of folks expected, since there isn’t really anything riding on that game at this point. I know that’s the one we care about, but let’s get to the rest of the Week 18 schedule as well.
The Saturday doubleheader will feature two games that feature some pretty significant stakes. The early game, which will kick off at 3:30 PM Central time on ABC and ESPN, will be the battle for the NFC South championship between the Carolina Panthers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Tampa. The winner will be the #4 seed in the NFC playoffs and host a playoff game, while the loser will be able to start making tee times.
The nightcap on Saturday will be the battle for the #1 seed in the NFC, as the Seattle Seahawks will travel to Santa Clara to take on the San Francisco 49ers. The winner will get the NFC’s lone bye and home field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs, while the loser will be a wild card team and head out on the road to start the NFC playoffs. That game will also air on ABC and ESPN, and will kick off at 7:00 PM Central time.
The Sunday Night game will feature a battle for the lone AFC playoff spot that is still up for grabs, the top of the AFC North. Thanks to the Baltimore Ravens beating Green Bay on Saturday night and the Pittsburgh Steelers somehow losing to Cleveland on Sunday afternoon, those two teams will face off on Sunday night in Pittsburgh with the division title on the line. Much like the NFC South game, the winner gets a home playoff game, and the loser just gets to go home. That game is set to start at 7:20 PM Central time next Sunday, and will be broadcast on NBC.
