Coach Prime’s roster turnover continued Monday as the transfer portal claimed even more ground, pushing the Buffaloes’ total departures to 23 and extending a growing theme of offseason movement across multiple position groups.

Quarterback Ryan Staub became the latest name to enter the portal, a move first reported by ESPN’s Pete Thamel. Staub leaves the Colorado Buffaloes with two seasons of eligibility remaining after starting two games in three seasons and throwing for 681 yards while accounting for five total touchdowns. The move is rooted in opportunity, as Staub searches for a program where the depth chart allows a true competition to unfold over his final two years.

But Staub was not the only recent departure from Deion Sanders’ squad.

Linebacker Reginald Hughes also intends to enter the transfer portal after playing a meaningful role on Colorado’s defense this season. Hughes appeared in 12 games, including seven starts, and finished with 48 tackles, the fourth-most on the team. His exit further thins a defensive unit that relied heavily on experience during stretches of the season.

Additionally, graduate transfer defensive back Braden Keith announced his decision to move on as well. In a social media post, Keith thanked Colorado and head coach Deion Sanders, calling his three seasons in Boulder a blessing and signing off with “Always a Buff for life.”

Individually, each decision is understandable. Collectively, they paint a clearer picture. The portal count continues to rise. And with it, the reality that turnover is no longer an exception in Boulder. It is the offseason storyline.
