REPORT: Illinois coach Thad Ward leaving for Kansas State

Littyville is out.

Littyville is out… Again.

ESPN reported Thursday that Illinois assistant head coach Thad Ward is leaving Champaign and heading back to Kansas State to be an associate head coach and receivers coach.

Ward was previously the Wildcats’ wide receivers coach in 2022.

Ward has had two stints with the Illini, first with Lovie Smith from 2016-18 and then with Bret Bielema from 2023-25.

Ward is likely best known for cultivating the “Littyville” mantra during his first go-around with the orange and blue.

Obviously, Bielema may have more coaching spots to fill this offseason. We’ll just have to wait and see, but the future still looks bright after 19 wins over the last two seasons.
