All 4 QBs in CFP semifinals are transfers

It's a common narrative here.

Last season's national championship was won by a transfer quarterback. Ohio State's Will Howard had begun his college career at Kansas State.

This season will continue that trend: No matter which of the four remaining College Football Playoff semifinalists hoists the trophy, they'll be a transfer.

That's because all four remaining CFP teams are led by a transfer QB.

Indiana has the Heisman Trophy winner, Fernando Mendoza. He arrived this season from Cal.

Miami features Carson Beck, who was already on a national contender at Georgia but left to join the Hurricanes.

Oregon is led by Dante Moore, soon to be a high-level NFL Draft pick but having first begun his college tenure at UCLA.

And Ole Miss has the most fun transfer quarterback story. Trinidad Chambliss arrived this season from Division II Ferris State. A year ago, he won the D-II national title, and now he's playing for the D-I crown.

Obviously, this isn't a trend restricted to these teams. All around the country, players including QBs are transferring at record rates.

It certainly reinforces the trend, though. Some programs have mostly stopped worrying about landing good quarterbacks out of high school. They'd rather have the veteran transfer.

Not every transfer QB, of course, is a guaranteed success. But for these four teams still standing, they certainly got the right guy.
