I wasn’t expecting this, since Kazuma Okamoto seems to profile best at first base. But he will be able to play third (maybe not at Ernie Clement’s level on defense) for at least the next couple of years. In Japan he was a three true outcome hitter. Lots of homers and strikeouts and a good number of walks.
No word on the length of the contract or the money he’s going to be making.
And I don’t know what this means for Bo Bichette. It is a bit hard to imagine that they both could be Jays, but who knows.
The team is still thought to be favourites for Kyle Tucker.
