Moves are being made!
Barcelona have reportedly made a first bid to bring Joao Cancelo back to the club in the January transfer window.
Cancelo is keen to leave Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal this winter and is hoping to secure a return to Catalunya, although Inter are also thought to be in the race to land the Portugal star.
Fabrizio Romano has offered an update and says that Barca have now made a move and are hoping to bring in Cancelo on loan for the rest of the season.
Barcelona are reportedly willing to pay a part of his salary but it seems talks are still ongoing between both clubs to reach some kind of arrangement regarding Cancelo’s wages.
We’ll have to wait and see what happens next but it looks like Cancelo is a real option for Barca this winter. The club had been looking for a center-back to replace Andreas Christensen but have struggled to find many quality short-term options in the winter market.
Cancelo’s versatility does mean that he can play in both full-back positions which would allow Jules Kounde to move back into central defence if required by Hansi Flick.
