The 2025 season is finally over for the New York Jets. It was one of the ugliest seasons in an ugly era for the franchise.
The team made history for the wrong reasons in many ways.
To start with, the team became the first since records were first kept in 1933 to go a full season without recording an interception.
Of course, adding to the absurdity of this stat is the fact the team’s head coach Aaron Glenn was a three-time Pro Bowl cornerback during his playing days.
The way the Jets finished the season also was unprecedented.
It is obviously related to the lack of interceptions, but the Jets set an overall record for fewest takeaways.
Lest you think defense was the only issue, the Jets had plenty of offensive futility. Garrett Wilson, who recorded his last reception of the season in October, finished the team’s leader in receiving yards with 395. This leaves the 2025 Jets as the first in franchise history to play at least 16 games and have nobody eclipse the 400 yard mark.
If someone told you in training camp that Garrett Wilson would lead the team in receiving yards, you might have replied, “Thanks, Captain Obvious.”
If that same person said he’d do it without catching a pass after Oct. 12, you’d probably say something like, “No way.”
Wilson, sidelined because of a knee injury since midseason, leads the team with 395 yards. Taylor is stuck on 369, as he hasn’t played in a month because of a neck injury. Hall, at 350 yards, would have had a chance, but he has been ruled out for Sunday’s finale.
The Jets have never had a receiving leader with fewer than 400 yards in a 16- or 17-game season.
The way these bad Jets seasons run into each other, it can be easy to lose perspective of whether we are watching an unprecedented level of bad play. For the 2025 New York Jets, that was a feature of the season.
