According to the latest information from Defensa Central, it has come to light that Oscar Mingueza, a former Barcelona defender currently playing for Celta Vigo, has emerged as a player being monitored by Real Madrid ahead of next summer.

It is known that Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on the winter transfer market, not with the intention of signing players now, but to ensure no opportunity slips through the cracks.

Internally, the club is calm, aware that January is not the moment for drastic moves.

However, the outlet mentions that Florentino Perez already has a clear picture in mind for reinforcing one of the most delicate areas of the squad in the coming months.

Reshuffling the defence

Notably, Real Madrid’s defence is set to undergo significant changes in the summer.

This is because Contracts for Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba expire at the end of the season, and all indications suggest that neither player is expected to renew

This is where Mingueza enters the conversation. His contract with Celta Vigo runs out in June, and there is little optimism around a renewal.

That contractual situation allows him to negotiate freely with other clubs, potentially securing his next move well before the summer window opens.

Real Madrid are aware of this and see value in monitoring a player who could arrive without a transfer fee.

As such, the former Barcelona defender has been offered to Real Madrid through his agents. From the player’s perspective, such a move would represent a major step forward in his career.

However, Madrid are in no rush. The club has made it clear that no decision will be taken at this stage, as their priority remains resolving the futures of players already in the squad.

Within the club, Mingueza is viewed as a potential option for the right-back position.

His versatility and experience in La Liga are appreciated, but he is not currently a priority target.
