Michigan showing interest in portal quarterbacks from Louisville, Elon

Here’s a look at two quarterbacks Michigan is targeting in the transfer portal.

Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood will be returning to the program for his sophomore season and will be locked in as QB1, but that won’t stop Michigan from adding at the position. Three Michigan quarterbacks have entered the transfer portal: Jadyn Davis, Mikey Keene, and Davis Warren. Warren has since committed to Stanford, while Davis and Keene have not yet announced their new destinations. Michigan’s remaining depth at the position includes Chase Herbstreit and two incoming freshmen in Brady Smigiel and Tommy Carr.

Michigan is looking at multiple options to add depth at QB, including Louisville’s Deuce Adams and Elon’s Landen Clark.

Adams is set to visit Michigan on Friday and has other visits lined up with Wisconsin and James Madison.

Clark shared on Wednesday night that he has received an offer from Michigan. Other teams in the mix for Clark are James Madison, Kentucky, Michigan State, and Washington.

Deuce Adams Stats

  • 6-foot-2, 190 pounds
  • Career Stats: 15-of-21 (71,4%), 112 passing yards, 0 touchdowns, 0 interceptions

Landen Clark Stats

  • 6-foot-0, 186 pounds
  • Career Stats: 155-of-278 (55.8%), 18 touchdowns, 8 interceptions, 614 rushing yards, 11 rushing touchdowns

Clark is more of a dual-threat option than Adams, but Adams’ completion percentage is much higher, albeit with a small sample size. The portal is open until Jan. 16, thus new names could emerge and be linked to Michigan in its search for a quarterback to push Bryce Underwood and be a solid backup option. But for now, Clark and Adams are the names to watch.
