Two INEOS chiefs were in attendance at Turf Moor as Manchester United dropped points for the third game on the bounce last night.
The Red Devils slumped to seventh place upon the culmination of gameweek 21, once again squandering the opportunity to go fourth before Liverpool lock horns with Arsenal later this evening.
Burnley vs United: How it played out

A double from Benjamin Sesko was not enough for United to return home with all three points in the bag, despite having a whopping 30 shots across the 90 minutes with 10 on target.
Burnley, on the other hand, only technically troubled Senne Lammens once through Jaidon Anthony’s stunning second-half strike, as their opener came courtesy of an Ayden Heaven deflection that sent Bashir Humphreys’ cross looping into the back of the net.
One journalist spotted Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox’s exact reactions, too, as Mark Critchley of The Athletic said on X/Twitter when the Clarets took the lead: “Wilcox and Berrada practically squirmed in their seats as that went in. It was coming. Burnley finding space between the lines too easily.”

Darren Fletcher confirmed post-match that he had been asked to stay in charge for Sunday’s FA Cup tie at home to Brighton and Hove Albion (kick-off 4.30pm). From there, however, it remains to be seen who will be taking the reins at Old Trafford until the end of the campaign.
Both Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Michael Carrick have been approached by INEOS, the former of which is currently the favourite to complete an unexpected return as caretaker manager following his dismissal in 2021.
Premier League-wise, United host Manchester City next Saturday before travelling to face leaders Arsenal on January 25.
