Well, let’s chalk up another brutal loss for Mark Pope and this Kentucky Basketball team as they dropped another game to the Missouri Tigers to start SEC play 0-2.
Also losing their SEC home opener for the first time since 2013, things around the UK basketball program are not good. The offense is awful to watch, and the defense is mostly just as bad. Let’s not even mention the rotations once again.
That begs the question that a lot of fans are going to start shouting from the rooftop: Is Mark Pope on the hot seat?
That might seem like a dumb question, but when it comes to Kentucky men’s basketball, what has transpired this season is well below the mark. The team isn’t winning, and even when they do, it is an awful product to get there.
To answer this question quickly…Pope is almost certainly not on the hot seat. It would take a total collapse for that to happen. However, this team certainly looks capable of said collapse happening if they can’t win at home vs. a Missouri team that’s probably in the bottom half of the league.
The fear we all had has become a reality. Was Mark Pope cut out for this job? At the moment, it looks like a quick no.
