Injured Barcelona duo will travel to Saudi Arabia to support team in Super Cup final vs Real Madrid

Playing Real Madrid in a final is always special for Barcelona, for it hands them the opportunity to not only celebrate an El Clasico win but to do so with silverware in their hand.

Last season, they played against Real Madrid in the final of both the Spanish Super Cup and the Copa del Rey, winning on both occasions and taking home the bragging rights.

This time around, they once again lock horns with the men in white later this week in the final of the Spanish Super Cup, and the only objective on the dressing room’s mind will be to replicate the same success.

Injured stars arrive to cheer

As relayed by Mundo Deportivo in a recent update, Barcelona’s injured players are also making their way to Saudi Arabia to cheer their teammates on in the final later this week and potentially celebrate the win.

Gavi and Andreas Christensen, the team’s two injured stars who are unavailable for selection, are in Barcelona progressing with their respective recoveries. They will, however, fly to Jeddah for the final.

Marc-Andre Ter Stegen had returned to Barcelona after suffering a setback in his knee. But with his concern dismissed as nothing major, he has already joined the squad back in Saudi Arabia and will be present for the final.

The game against Real Madrid on Sunday is a massive one, for earning silverware at this point in the season would serve as a serious morale booster for the dressing room. Further, they have had an extra day off compared to their rivals.

Flick handed the team the day off on Friday to rest and recuperate and they will begin training for the final on Saturday morning. Needless to say, one hopes the day off does the team a world of good and has them at their 100% in the final.
