The third day of Teurlings Catholic boys basketball's 22nd Annual Rebel Roundball Classic is in the books. Here are scores and standout players.
With two days of Teurlings Catholic’s 22nd Annual Rebel Roundball Classic in the books, fans didn’t hesitate to pack up the Rebeldome once more for Day 3 on Jan. 9.
From standing room only rematches between powerhouses to close nail bitters, there were plenty of storylines to be invested in as teams continue to find their identities throughout the 2025-26 season.
Here are some standout players from the 337 in games played on Day 3.
Carencro vs Central Catholic
Final score: Carencro won 43-42
Player of the Game: Hayden Monroe, Carencro
Summary: It was a low-scoring affair between the Golden Bears and the Eagles with both teams struggling to start the game. Luckily for the Bears, Monroe was on their side, with the junior leading their offense with 17 points along with a team-high six rebounds. Listed at 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds, Monroe also snagged two steals to help his team come out with the dub.
Monroe: “I feel like it was a good win; we just got to execute better. We got to make more shots, we weren’t really finishing at the rim, we just got to get better on that. From last year, I got bigger, faster, stronger and I want to improve on my outside game really so that I can be a next-level player.”
Lafayette Christian Academy vs WCA-Opelousas
Final score: WCA-Opelousas won 48-29
Player of the Game: Omar Guillory, WCA-Opelousas
Summary: The Crusaders came out swinging and wasted no time building up a lead over the Knights. Leading their offensive effort was senior forward Guillory, who ended the night with a double-double. The 6-foot-3 dual sport athlete led all scorers with 17 points while snagging 10 boards.
Guillory: “I feel like I did well in rebounding, which really helps my team plus we were all locked in on defense. We were running our sets right on offense, everything just came together. We had to adjust to a new coach this season, but it's going pretty good, and I feel like we did well at adapting.”
New Iberia vs St. Louis Catholic
Final score: St. Louis Catholic won 50-31
Player of the Game: Tre Lively, New Iberia
Summary: It was a forgettable first half of play for New Iberia, putting itself in too big of a hole to dig itself out of by the second half. Despite that, junior guard Lively did all he could to get the Yellowjackets back in the game. Lively led all NISH scorers with 11 points, along with five rebounds and a steal.
St. Thomas More vs Westgate
Final score: Westgate won 65-60
Player of the Game: Antonio Quetel, Westgate
Summary: There was no empty seat in the gym once the Cougars and Tigers faced off again. Last meeting, Westgate came out on top thanks to defense. This go-round it was more of the same, with the game coming down to the final quarter. Offensively, sophomore guard Quetel was Westgate’s led scorer dropping a team-high 14 points while also snagging two steals. This win puts the Tigers in the championship game on Day 4 of the classic.
