Packers Discussion: Was that Matt LaFleur’s last game as Green Bay’s HC?

Will Matt LaFleur’s tenure end with going 0-5 to end the 2025 season and giving up 25 points in the 4th to the Bears?

Let’s keep all the talk about Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur here. Obviously, this was about as bad of a way as you can draw up the end of the year: Entering the season with Super Bowl expectations and ending it by losing all five of your last five games. On top of that, the final game was a loss to your bitter rival, who had a 25-point fourth quarter to beat you by a score.

Both ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport stated that LaFleur wasn’t coaching for his job tonight. In their words, both LaFleur and the Packers wanted LaFleur to coach in Green Bay in 2026, but money was the issue. Notably, the Packers haven’t funded their assistant pool (the non-coordinators) much in recent years, mostly relying on cheaper internal promotions (sometimes even at the coordinator level).

But a loss this big could obviously change things. What are your thoughts?

Personally, fire whoever you want to hire at this point, but only if you’re going to spend the money to replace them at a high level.
