Bradley Barcola's agents are stalling their response to Paris Saint-Germain's contract offer

Bradley Barcola is the player in question with the Frenchman consistently linked with an Anfield switch over the last year or so.

Last term, the former Lyon man was one of Luis Enrique's standout players and even though PSG want to keep him, it feels like his future could be away from the Parc de Princes.

Of course, the Reds aren't the only team who have been vying for his transfer but with Manchester City already beating Liverpool to the signing of Antoine Semenyo, Slot and Hughes aren't likely to let another one of their targets slip away.

And now, after an update from French outlet RMC Sport, Liverpool's move for Barcola may be closer than ever.

PSG have 'offered a contract' to the Frenchman but his team are yet to respond to their offer.

The reigning Ligue 1 champions wish to 'know the players position' soon as their next transfer window is likely to be influenced, especially if Barcola chooses to exit.

The French club are 'preparing for all eventualities' and they already have a shortlist jotted down with Barcola being one of PSG's 'key issues.'

The report rounds things up by stating Liverpool have been interested in the past with the club having another chance to make their move for the attacker.

Bradley Barcola would help solve most of Liverpool's attacking problems

One of the main areas that Liverpool are lacking firepower within their squad is their left-wing.

Hughes chose to move Luis Diaz on in the summer and even though Slot wanted to sign a new winger, the higher-ups at the club refused.

Indeed, Gakpo's natural position is on the left-wing but since his form has been miles off the pace this term, others such as Florian Wirtz have had to fill in to try and create chances for Liverpool.

Granted, Barcola is likely to be used on the left, the fact he can play anywhere across the front three is a massive bonus.

Unfortunately, a move is unlikely to take place in the winter transfer window but, if Slot is still the man at the helm by the time summer comes around, he could force the higher-ups to dip into the market for a left-winger.

Barcola's ability has also been laid bare more than once with Enrique even dubbing him a 'superb' player which gives the Reds yet another reason to make their move.
