Giants head coach search: New candidate emerges

The Giants are adding another name to their list of coaching candidates.

The Giants are adding another name to their head coach candidates list.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, the Giants have put in a request to interview Rams defensive coordinator Chris Shula for their head coach opening.

Breer added that the Titans and Dolphins have also requested interviews with Shula, who is the grandson of legendary Miami coach Don Shula.

The Giants are reported to be ‘relentless’ in their pursuit of former Ravens coach John Harbaugh. Ex-Browns coach Kevin Stefanski is also at the top of their list. He interviewed with the team on Wednesday (1/7).

On Thursday (1/8), the Giants interviewed former Falcons coach Raheem Morris and Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph. They interviewed former Raiders coach Antonio Pierce on Friday (1/9).

On Saturday, they interviewed Broncos assistant head coach and special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi. They also conducted a Zoom interview with Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak.

The Giants will interview former Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy on Tuesday (1/13).

The Giants also have interviews planned with Lou Anarumo (Colts defensive coordinator) and Davis Webb (Broncos passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach).
