The Spanish Super Cup final was intense not only on the pitch, but also in the VIP box.
As Barcelona lifted their second consecutive Super Cup title, club president Joan Laporta followed every detail closely from the stands.
Before kick-off, Laporta and Real Madrid president Florentino Perez met in the VIP area as protocol required.
The encounter included formal greetings, an exchange of gifts and, once the final result was known, congratulations.
Laporta later explained the nature of that interaction, making it clear that it remained strictly professional.
“Florentino congratulated me and we greeted each other cordially before the match,“ Laporta said after the final.
His comments came a day after he had publicly stated that ”relations with Real Madrid are broken and not good.

From a sporting perspective, Laporta was visibly pleased with Barcelona’s performance in the final.
He highlighted the team’s attitude, generosity on the pitch and the sense of unity within the squad.
“I’m very happy. Our team puts on a show like today and is very generous. We say we are a big family and that’s how it is,“ he said.
The president also made a point of recognising the work behind the scenes, praising the coaching staff led by Hansi Flick as well as the medical and recovery teams, whom he described as “architects” of the success.
Tension during the match
Laporta did not ignore the difficulty of the final itself. Despite a strong start, he admitted that tension was inevitable in a match of this magnitude.
“We were in a better position, but in a final, there are no favourites. We started well by scoring, then they equalised and it can get complicated, but the team overcame it.
“We were nervous, which is normal in a final,” he explained.
Far from criticising the contest, Laporta appreciated its competitive nature, adding, ”I liked the script of the final, competitive and interesting.

“Winning the Super Cup marked the start of last season, which ended with three titles, and we hope this year will be good too.”
Individually, Raphinha stood out with a decisive contribution, but Laporta was careful to frame his praise within a collective context.
“He scored two goals and could have scored more. He sets the intensity and pace, but this is a team effort.
“The value of this group is that it plays with a collective spirit and a well-rehearsed system,“ he said.
He also spoke emotionally about Ronald Araujo’s return after his mental health struggles, describing the defender as ”excited and happy“ and calling his comeback ”magnificent” given the circumstances.
