Liverpool want to sign Borussia Dortmund defender Julian Ryerson during the ongoing winter transfer window after Conor Bradley picked up a long-term injury, according to German journalist and Bundesliga transfer expert Christopher Michel. Liverpool manager Arne Slot will be without the right-back for months and wants to bring Ryerson to Anfield as his replacement. Bradley has undergone a knee surgery after picking up an injury against Arsenal, and the Reds have been dealt a huge blow.
They now want a quality replacement and are eyeing a move for the Dortmund star. Ryerson has been in fine form for the Bundesliga club in 2025-26, with six assists to his name in 22 appearances. The 28-year-old defender is primarily a right-back but he can play as a left-back and centre-back, which appeals to Liverpool. Ryerson is a brilliant crosser of the ball and an excellent passer, and he should hit the ground running on Merseyside if signed.

The Norwegian has established himself as an undisputed starter in recent seasons and has spent seven years in the German top-flight. Liverpool may need to guarantee him regular playing chances to convince him as he is not looking to leave his comfort zone for a fresh challenge. Joe Gomez can cover for Bradley while Jeremie Frimpong could be brought back to defence if Slot does not get a solid replacement for the Northern Ireland international in the market.
