Real Madrid: "The Spanish Super Cup is less important," says Xabi Alonso

At the press conference following the defeat in the 2026 Spanish Super Cup final, Xabi Alonso noticeably downplayed the Catalans' triumph.

On Sunday evening, Real Madrid were beaten by FC Barcelona (3-2) in the Spanish Super Cup final. Los Blancos missed the chance to clinch their first trophy of the season. Facing the media, Real coach Xabi Alonso chose to minimize the significance of this competition.

"We faced two great rivals within just a few days, right in the middle of the season. We're focusing on the positives and preparing for our upcoming challenges. We have to move on quickly. It's just one match, one competition, and out of all the ones we have to play, it's the least important," admitted the Basque tactician.

Real will have to bounce back in the Champions League, Copa del Rey, and La Liga.
