Anthony Kim had an incredible weekend at Black Diamond Ranch, but he was still picking fights on X.
It was low-key weekend for golf fans following the cancellation of The Sentry due to the conditions at Kapalua Resort’s Plantation Course. The absence of the PGA Tour’s annual kick-off party was felt far and wide, but golf never stays quiet for long, and by Sunday evening another remarkable storyline had emerged:
Anthony Kim, the former Ryder Cup hero who fell on hard times before returning to LIV Golf on an invite basis in 2024, clinched an official spot in the league with a third-place finish at the 2026 LIV Golf Promotions event.
The 40-year-old played his best golf since his return at Black Diamond Ranch, backing up a Saturday 66 with a one-under 69 on Sunday to claim a spot on the LIV Golf circuit for 2026. Kim has fought battles on many fronts over the past several years—including social media, where he’s developed a decidedly confrontational persona. Despite the feel-good nature of his weekend performance, Kim continued his warpath, sticking it to the haters on X following his final round. Check it out.
Thanking God and telling the haters to “SUCK IT” all in the same breath. That’s exactly how you draw it up, folks. Many have wondered why Kim, once so soft spoken, has chosen violence in his return to golf and social media, but perhaps he’s just pulling from Michael Jordan's playbook.
Long after Michael Jordan had won multiple NBA Championships, become a global superstar and solidified himself as the single most dominant athlete on earth, he harbored grudges and carried a chip on his shoulder not because he was petty, but because that was how he motivated himself. We can’t say for sure if that’s where Kim’s social media outbursts—including a particularly unsavory feud with Brandel Chamblee—originate, but it's a working theory.
Either way, one thing certain: Kim doesn’t have nearly as many haters as he seems to think he does. Now that he’s earned his way back to the world of professional golf, perhaps we will get more insight into what really makes him tick. If not, at least we'll get some funny tweets out of it.
